On this day in 1833, occurred the greatest meteor shower known as Leonid's, with up to 200,000 meteors per hour. Many people who saw the meteors fall to earth thought the world was about to end. This display helped astronomers realize that meteors were entering Earth's atmosphere from outer space and were not just an Earth-based event like rain. On this day in 2012 will occur a total solar eclipse (Kin 169, 13 Moon). The last total solar eclipse was on July 11, 2010, Kin 94. The one before that was 354 days earlier on July 22, 2009.
