Kin 198: White Electric Mirror

I activate in order to reflect
Bonding order
I seal the matrix of endlessness
With the electric tone of service
I am guided by the power of spirit.

The simple, most elegant means will always be true; therefore it will be both aesthetic and moral.*

Red Lunar Earth/ Red Rhythmic Moon - Resonant Monkey Moon of Attunement, Day 21

Our Beautiful Planet Earth.

             The Kindness

The mother elk and 2 babies are sniffing
the metal handle of the bear-proof trash bin.
I remember the instructions for city people:
3 football fields of space between you &
the elk if their babies are with them.
I’m backing up slowly,
watching the calves run into each other
as they bend to eat grass/look up
at the mother at the same time.
The caramel color of their coat,
the sloping line of their small snouts &
I want to hold that beauty,
steal it for me,
but I’m only on football field # 2 & walking
into the woods past the lodge pole pines.
Their fragility, their awkward bumping
opens me to a long ago time—
              a hand on the door,
              I was walking in
to the psych hospital in Pittsburgh,
feeling broken and stripped down—
              a hand on the door
              from around my body
& I looked up to see the body
of a man, who said:
Let me get that for you—
              a hand on the door
              & the bottom of me
I couldn’t breathe for the kindness.
I couldn’t say how deep that went
for me.
I had been backing up, awkward/
I had been blind to my own beauty.

Yellow Magnetic Warrior/ Yellow Overtone Star - Resonant Monkey Moon of Attunement, Day 20

Stela 01 Detail.  Bonampak. (c) PARI.

Morning Talk
“Hi, guy,” said I to a robin
perched on a pole in the middle
of the garden. Pink and yellow
firecracker zinnias, rough green
leaves of broccoli,
and deep red tomatoes on dying stems
frame his still presence.

“I’ve heard you’re not
THE REAL ROBIN. Bird watchers have
agreed,” I said.”THE REAL ROBIN
lives in England. They claim
you are misnamed and that we ought
to call you ‘a red-breasted thrush’
because you are

He fluffed up. “Am I not
Jis ko ko?”* he cried, “that persistent
warrior who carries warmth
northward every spring?”
He seemed so young, his red belly
a bit light and his wings, still
faded brown. He watched me
untangling the hose to water squash.

“Look who’s talking!” he chirruped.
“Your people didn’t come
from Europe or even India.
The turtles say you’re a relative
to red clay on this great island.”
Drops of crystal water
sparkled on the squash.

“Indigenous!” he teased
as he flew by.

*Jis ko ko is the Iroquoian name for Robin.  In the story, he is a young warrior who confronts the old man of winter.  The old man uses ice and brutal winds to keep Jis ko ko's warmth away from the earth.  When the old man shoots him on the chest with an arrow of ice, the young man bleeds and transforms into the bird.  Even as a bird, he continues his purpose, bringing warm rain and growth - green leaves, flowers and fruit.

I unify in order to question
Attracting fearlessness
I seal the output of intelligence
With the magnetic tone of purpose
I am guided by my own power doubled.

What we think of as our mind or intelligence is merely a resonant quality of mind that is not contained in our body, brain or nervous system.*

Blue Cosmic Eagle/ Blue Self-Existing Hand - Resonant Monkey Moon of Attunement, Day 19

Eagle Feather. Frank Howell.

Blue Cosmic Eagle

Underneath an
Earthen Crust
In Gaia's Nest
A Serpent turns –
Languorously undulating
Abundantly surging
Among Blossoms infinite
The Flowers of all Nations -
She knows her Self
Sacred yet vilified
Mythic Mediator
Of Land and Sky –
Her Form
Eternally re-born
Among deep Roots
Of the great World Tree –

When opposites meet
Marry and merge –
Power travels amid
 Earth and Cloud –
Where Scales once lay
Where smooth Skin shed –
Now Eagle’s Wing
Ascends instead.

White Crystal Wizard/ White Electric World-Bridger - Resonant Monkey Moon of Attunement, Day 18

Cleopatra and Caesar. Jean-Leon Gerome. 1859.

To a Stranger
Passing stranger! you do not know how longingly I look upon you,

You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking, (it comes to me

as of a dream,)

I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,

All is recall'd as we flit by each other, fluid, affectionate,

chaste, matured,

You grew up with me, were a boy with me or a girl with me,

I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become not yours

only nor left my body mine only,

You give me the pleasure of your eyes, face, flesh, as we pass, you

take of my beard, breast, hands, in return,

I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or

wake at night alone,

I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again,

I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

Walt Whitman

Releasing wakefulness

Yellow Planetary Human/ Yellow Magnetic Seed - Resonant Monkey Moon of Attunement, Day 16

Portrait of Moctezuma. Antonio Rodriguez. 1680.

Xian of Eight Rivers

China is made of earth, of sun-dried mud.
In this part of China everything is made from the earth:
the houses, the walls around cities, and villages,
the tombs scattered over the countryside.
Even the people.
There are hills below that appear to be piles of mud
set out to dry in the sun, naked,
without a single tree or bush.
They crowd around the landscape
like the coils of bulging intestines
tossed on the ground outside butchers' shops,
slowly unraveling.
Sometimes we fly so low that we almost touch them.
And then I notice that the wind has brushed
some kind of pattern into the earth: a mysterious alphabet
written in the mud,
struggling to communicate something precise.
But there is not a single animal
or human being in the yellow desert below.
Not a single village.
Suddenly we are landing: Xian,
the geographic center of China,
where Chinese civilization was born,
in the cradle of the Yellow River.
In front of the terminal,
three children are playing with a lump of earth:
they are bundled up in jackets
and brightly printed cotton trousers.
I join them in their game
until a young woman comes out of the terminal
to call me in for dinner.
One of the children grabs me by my overcoat,
to keep me from leaving.
So do the other two, clinging to me,
asking me not to go.
The young woman comes out again,
and yells at them to stop.
They let go, disappointed.
One of them calls to me as I turn away:
Come back soon!
We eat quickly and then prepare to take off for Lanchow.
My three new friends wave goodbye to me. The littlest one
gives me a present: a pebble,
a precious gift.
In this part of China there are no stones.
You have to go to Karelia to find stone,
very far north; or to the Caucasus;
or to southern Siberia, along the slopes of the Pamir,
slanting toward the steppes of Central Asia.
I put the pebble in my pocket,
to take back home, to show what a precious gift
I was given by a little Chinese girl: a pebble
from the cradle of Chinese civilization.
A civilization made of earth,
a civilization without bones,
without a skeleton for support.
A civilization of assembled customs,
which suddenly unravel,
dissolving into thousands of separate gestures,
thousands of calligraphic icons,
thousands of smells, colors, flavors,
thousands of different shades. And then just as suddenly
they solidify again into tradition, memory, habit.
It is this absence of stone, of solid, durable material,
which makes China such an exquisite thing.
Everything is reflected:
an unimaginable number of movements,
of patterns, thoughts, images,
of which we see the copies in immense numbers,
but never the originals.
The originals were destroyed long ago.
Here are the four elements out of which China is made:
Earth, Wood, Porcelain, Silk.
The most durable of these is Silk.

I should add a fifth element: Poetry,
which is the most durable of all.
