A baboon's thigh bone marked with 29 notches was among the oldest direct evidence of human counting.  This bone was discovered in the Lebombo Mountains of Africa.  The Kja Kja Wurrung people of Australia had a unique system of counting using their body parts to count up to 29.  29 is the number associated with the lunar month - from new moon to new moon.*

Red Magnetic Earth

Like frozen Field

Or brittle Bough

A Shroud upon myself I take –

Sheltering Divinity within –

As the curled Nautilus –

Eros hides

In my Insides –

Great granite Cliffs

Shield a rising Planet –

Full of Rhythm and Rhyme –

Earth’s molten Heart

Pulls the Moon around –

Until the Sun –

Just in Time –

Warms the barren Ground.
