Welcome to my blog and to the Sacred Tzolkin of the Maya! The Tzolkin, or Count of Days, comprises all possible permutations of 20 hieroglyphic day signs and 13 tones or frequencies. 13 x 20 = 260, the number of days or units within the Tzolkin.
A clear and coded dream in January of 2002 led me directly to Crop Circle research. This in turn guided me to the Mayan calendar systems and cosmology. I began to count the days of the Sacred Tzolkin, that is, to keep track of the hieroglyphs, tones and colors for each of the calendar's 260 days, or "pieces of the sun."
The infinite depth and mystery of the Tzolkin influences my life (and yours!) in many ways. In this blog I will share with you the myriad elements and transcendental codes contained within the Tzolkin.
My principle teachers in this field are Jose Arguelles,
http://www.blogger.com/www.lawoftime.org and Carl Johan Calleman,
http://www.blogger.com/www.calleman.com. Both of these esteemed and learned gentleman have written important books about Mayan calendrics. Each embraces and follows a different Tzolkin.
Arguelles works with the Dreamspell, incorporating I Ching symbols, Runes of the Elder Futhark, radial plasma harmonics, planetary guides and many other cyclic overlays.
Calleman, on the other hand, works with the Long or True Count, the calendar used by the Mayan Elders throughout the Mexico and Central America.
Discussions, disagreements and feuds arose regarding the comparative authenticity of the two Tzolkin counts. As a result, I investigated each system thoroughly. I began to "keep the days" of both the Dreamspell and the True Count. The intervening years have revealed astonishing synchronicity between the two.
As a poet, I am accustomed to mediating and weaving disparate concepts into a new creation, uniting polarized views in order to arrive at a higher synthesis. Thus began my in-depth research as well as a project of daily poetics integrating the two Tzolkin counts. The purpose of this blog lives in the poetry which reflects either one or both Tzolkin counts.
Enjoy and stay tuned...
