In each of us a Beauty and a Beast

In each a Light and Darkness of the Heart

In each a Famine and a Holy Feast

In each the Whole of which we are a Part

In every Mind both human and divine

In everyone two Voices in the Soul

In every Fruit hard Seed and honeyed Wine

Within each Particle resides the Whole

In all that’s Uniform – Diversity

In all Duality does Union hide

In all that’s complex lives Simplicity

In all who fear are Faith and Love denied

                           Though Maya’s subtle Veil hides all that’s true

With conscious Sight the single Eye sees through.

My precious friend, regard me not askance

Though I deserve your gaze most skeptical

I cannot fault you for your wary glance

For I make of myself pure spectacle

It is to tears my words one could compare

Both flow in uncontrollable remorse

In composition they so poorly fare

To express passion from its deepest source

These words survive though tears do disappear

Poetry at least puts form on feeling

But I do risk your mockery and fear

Trying to convince you of my meaning

Emotion when translated to refrain

Loses too much, but gambles more to gain.

White Self-Existing Wind

Many a past Love had passed over me

Those once true became truly false

I lost all my Loves in Loss untimely

To Lust’s illusory three-quartered Waltz

Terrified of Solitude

 I bought Friendship with purloined Emotion

Grief and Misery rendered me numb

Grandiose, aggressive, and rude

I starved and thirsted at Fate’s great Banquet

Refusing to learn or earn my Share

Finally abandoned by all who knew me

I gave myself up to Insanity

“Take me,” I prayed to a god unknown

“Release me from Hell on Earth”

In Desperation I saw

A Bridge of Sighs over the River of Life

Part of me died – the Fear and the Pride –

As a Newborn I crossed the Bridge –

When at last I reached the other Side

I perceived a Meal most strange!

The Fare was unpleasant, not easy to swallow

It stuck in my Throat but nourished my Soul

Compelled to eat without knowing why

I had Breakfast of Crow and a large Humble Pie.

A Brown sorrel Mare moves into View

With a side-saddled Shepherd shouting, “Yasu!”

“Yasu! Tikanis?” I respond –

He tips his Hat to me

Finally, bringing up the Rear

Of this Ionian Cavalcade

A creamy Labrador Retriever

Panting in Anticipation and Thirst

She knows that in the final Reckoning –

The Last shall be the First.

Has reached its full Completion

In all of Nature’s vast Display

 Variety and Beauty indescribable

There is one Face extraordinary –

Innocence made visible

I sing of the northern Infants

Slaughtered for their Fur –

Such a Prize – such a Boon

For the Hunter

These Babes are easy Prey

Too young to swim away –

Heads shattered – skinned alive

Left to die in agony

In front of their Mothers

Enormous dark Eyes mirror

Man’s Inhumanity – Cruelty – Insanity

Lifeless, skinless babies’ Bodies

Thrown away to rot

Upon the Snow and Ice

Now stained with Blood and Gore

No more!

The Harp Seal –

`Striking Beauty

 In a barren Wilderness –

Struck down - bludgeoned to Death

For a Wallet or Coat 

Beware all who participate

And all who fail to protest

The Slaughter of Innocents

Goes not unseen.

If Origin is Answer

Then into the Struggle run

Run toward the Light of the Son

Into the living Fire

Into the shining Sea

Into the widening Gyre

Transcend all Opposites –

Kshatriya and Brahmin grow

Into the Angels above –
