Tall Trees

Lush Greens vibrate
Infinite
in Hue –
Remarkably blue

Quietude and Solitude
My Allies strong
In the rendering

To Heaven by Degree
Tonight’s Moon rises
Over the Skyline
Above Earth’s Horizon
By Nature’s Decree
Tonight’s Moon rises --
Her Course clear and sure
Charted - specific
From this I take Comfort
More than random – Life
More than fleeting – Joy
Sorrow – Nevermore.

Like frozen Field
Or brittle Leaf --
I fold into my Self –-
Surface Life recedes
Falls far away and deep –
Sparks fly faint and blue
Too weak for Light or Heat
Frost rustles underfoot
Grasses bend and break --
A Shroud upon myself I take –
Infinity curls within
My Shell –
Eros hides
Inside
Great granite Cliffs
Belie a Planet full of Life –
Her Crystal Core
Pulls the Moon around --
Directs the Seasons
And the Treasons
Until the Sun returns.

Blue Crystal Eagle
My Heart is fragile
Agile in her Musing –
Full of Adhesions
Doubt, Fears, and Reasons
To withdraw
I learned to love on a Battleground
Where volatile Mines
Were set down to trip
Me into Conformity
I lost small Pieces of my Mind
In Hell-bent Skirmishes out of the
Blue –
Always poised to defend myself
I danced with the Devil on the Front
Lines
Resistance sent me Underground
But the Devil claimed his Due –
I laid down my Soul in Surrender
To a Power I hardly knew
I lost that Battle but won the War
Therein lay my Victory –
When I died to Death my Life was born
My Story began telling me.

Wizard
It isn’t that we
quarreled –
Or fought with
sharpened Tongue and Fang
Or clawed our Way
through Tunnels full of Gloom
Together
No fuming Rage or
Thunder
Tore apart our
Hearts
Eros stood silently
at Bay
Peeking in on us – standing
on Tip-Toe
Watching as we mocked
Love’s Glory –
Imitating the
sublime State
We moved
simultaneously toward
And against each other
The Possibility of US
did not
Dawn in Flashes of
bright Light –
You spoke of
Rockets, saying
“I need others as
well as you –
Another instead of
you.”
There are Burdens
you carry
Awkwardly against
your Will
Away from me, you
turn
Even while
approaching –
You balance
self-consciously
In order not to fall
or disturb
A precarious Equilibrium
Being January’s
Child
I know the two-faced
god
Of Ambivalence –
Janus is false
fashioned
As you are rudely
fake
You give and then
abruptly take
Away –
I had little Time
To test the
Truth
To run the Gamut of
Emotions
Bequeathed to me
As crown Jewels –
I chose a simple
Stone
Of Disenchantment –
I now deny false
gods –
Declare that I will
repair
The bruised Heart
within me beating –
The Decision is mine
To make without you
Even as I have been
With you
Awareness breaks with
Waves of
Consciousness –
The rhythmic Swell
of Knowledge
Builds the natural
Bridges of my Soul –
Only forward does my
inner Eye direct
As I acquaint myself
with myself again –
Without you.

Love’s Arms reach in to guide

Ensconced from here to there
We fly above all Doubt and Pain
Past all concerns or Care
The newborn Moment is our Carriage
Dressed in Gold and Silver Time
Guarding well the Oath of Marriage
Floating on the Wings of Rhyme
Sails of deep Devotion direct
Our Ship of State
Trimmed to perfect Destiny
The favorite Child of Fate.
