Yellow Lunar Seed

 

There is a Time of Year that yawns –

Stretching the Space between Seasons

Days – Weeks of Promise when, depending on the Solstice

We stand between cold Dread and warm Anticipation

 

There is a Time of Year that takes the plant Roots deep –

Makes its Moves from inner Signals

Cosmic Calls of ice-filled Lakes

Frost – Cold –Wind –Rain and Snow

 When skies of November resemble a Day in March

Dark Clouds give no Comfort or Promise of Warmth

 

Finally, winter loses Strength –

A Seed begins its brave invisible

 Ascent to early Suns too pale for warming

Only Faith supports our Skin and Bones

Now chilled and blue with Longing

For spring the winter’s Damage to atone

 

There is a Time of Year that shivers

While we, like Children, short-sighted

And burning with Desire cannot wait

For howling, whistling Winds

To blow away the old and bring upon the New

The autumnal Days of early spring are rude –

They tease and taunt without Remorse

 

There is a Time of Year too short to name until

Azure fills a Sky of cotton Clouds –

Jonquil Petals open with the Violet

Green Grass quivers with the Flights of little Bees

Whose Legs are yellow Pollen laden

Daffodil sits up with Hyacinth upon the Hill

The Moth awakes to fly on parchment Wing

The Seasons turn – Gaia smiles – naming Spring.

Swallow down

An inner Voice

A disembodied Face

 

A separate Self –

Beloved yet apart

A ghostly Lover

Occupies my Heart

 

His surface Charm

Hid dangerous Depths –

 Resentments grew –

Deadly and immortal all –

 

Upon him I project

Every Wound and Crime –

Committed from my infancy

Until present Time

 

I fashioned him a Hero –

That insubstantial Shade

But when I cut him loose I see

The Hero is my Self made whole.

The Wild Woman’s Soul

 

As she quickens with

The Life Force –

If Origin is Answer

Then into the Struggle run

 

Run toward the Light of the Son

Into the living Fire

 

Into the shining Sea

Into the widening Gyre

 

Transcend all Opposites –

Kshatriya and Brahmin grow

 

Into the Angels above –

Signs and Symbols shout –

Translating the Unconscious

Into Consciousness –

Crushing the overarching Power

Of the Patriarchy to miss the Point entirely

 

Make young my Mouth –

Oh, walking Soul

Let us prance and dance with ease

Like a fat elm in a strong Breeze –

As Adam cherished Eve before the Fall

Oh muse, oh husband, if it be your will

May well our union celebrated be

While we raise children of the ink and quill

Prolific now but more so presently

We’ll populate the earth with measured feet –

Not human only but also in verse

Verse whose noble lines inspire not deceit –

But love and honor o’er the Universe

 

When so my musing husbanded shall be –
