Blue Rhythmic Night

 

That was the Night

Of Light and Sacred Things

When after endless Drought

It fell – the rain, the dew – Amrita!*

 

That was the Night

When I trembled in your arms

Took you in my arms

Kissed you in the Dark

 

That was the night

Of Desire and Dreams fulfilled –

We clung as magnets reunited –

Like a Force of Nature

 

That was the Night

When heaven rose from the moist Earth

When a goddess took her god

Into the Sacred Garden of Delight.

 

*Amrita:  a Sanskrit word that literally means "immortality" and is often referred to in texts as nectar.  The word's earliest occurrence is in the Rigveda, where it is one of several synonyms for soma, the drink which confers immortality upon the gods. It refers also to feminine sexual fluid.
